Vicar seeks help in battle - Dec 28 2002
Evening Telegraph

People fighting for the reinstatement of a doctor suspended from Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry, have collected 23,000 signatures on a petition they plan to send to hospital managers.

They are appealing to others to support them by signing the petition and writing letters to the hospital.

One of the campaigners is the Rev Jim Canning, of St Paul's, Foleshill Road, Coventry, who said: "You can support our campaign by writing to those who are in positions of influence. We can provide addresses and telephone numbers."

Dr Raj Mattu, a cardiologist, was suspended 10 months ago amid allegations of bullying a junior colleague.

Anyone who would like to take part in the campaign should contact Mr Canning at St Paul's Vicarage, 13 St Paul's Road, Coventry, CV6 5DE, call 024 7668 8283 or e-mail: jimcanningstpcov @aol.com
