Recent investigations by the National Audit Office and Reader's Digest revealed that over £50 million of our public money is wasted by NHS managers to suspend doctors. Aside from this awful misuse of our taxes, there is the dreadful waste of talent. No privately run organisation or service would tolerate or survive with such specialists prevented from working on such a wide and protracted scale. After 15 years of intense training one can understand the misery and trauma suspension causes to the Consultant, the family and the friends. Never forget, we the patients and public also suffer from the loss of our Consultant.
